• Why We Need Med Students Who Weren’t Pre-Med

I still remember my first visit to the emergency room a year ago. I remember the cardiologist, who was present, and after a waiting time of three hours, came back with the results, what was wrong with me. Let me begin by saying how awful it was, I feel so bad visit and infused with a complicated explanation medically qualified. The cardiologist has not yet been made easier. She threw me on the words that could not have understood from another doctor. For example, P-waves, the SA node, ECG and other things that are completely over my head. Not in a position to the disease, a virus or a disease to understand, I did not make it easier for me to choose the best course of action. The diagnosis was as much help as if I had not gone to the doctor at all. This inspired me to write this article, why do we need to have medical students who have some experience working outside of medicine in our hospitals. We need personal and intimate relationships with our suppliers. We must understand our diagnosis in order to make informed decisions about our personal health. Read on to know my opinion on this point.

There should be a standard for doctors bad communicators. Of course there are professions that make it quite tolerable for 100% of book smarts, but doctors should be more versatile and have exceptional interpersonal skills as well. Poor communication between a service provider and the patient’s loss of patients. Especially for older people, if they do not understand what the doctors say they are more likely to take a medication or take medications incorrectly with the wrong dosage, etc.

The importance of communication can not be ignored in the medical field. I am a strong advocate of improving our education system and the implementation of the various categories of communicative skills, especially those in the medical field – doctors, nurses, emergency workers, etc. should be able to communicate with patients, regardless of the amount the load.

On another note, perhaps the lack of communication skills are at the level of stress associated with medical school related and even pre-med classes. There is little time to socialize and to develop skills of communication and language, if you have to dip your head in biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics and anatomy books, day and night. What I am saying is that doctors should be more balanced and well rounded, without focusing entirely on science instruction simply unfounded. Students need a variety of courses dealing with social, ethics, communication and language.

Top nursing schools in my opinion are more well rounded when it comes to such things. Because nurses more directly with patients over a longer period to do as physicians, intrapersonal skills are a must. Many online nursing schools, ensure that nurses are able to patients and families about the care they want and need to speak with some practical experience of dialogue. Be a doctor with a background in philosophy, humanities, or something not so much about science simply better equipped to talk to their patients.
